CHRIST CHURCH TO OFFER STATIONS OF THE CROSS DEVOTION

Christ Church will begin offering the Lenten devotion “The Fourteen Stations of The Cross” on Fridays during the season of Lent, beginning at 7:00 P.M. The Fourteen Stations is an ancient devotion of the Christian Church which traces the path of Jesus leading to the crucifixion. Each week will include a meditation on the procession. Father Walker and Father Webster will lead the processions. The devotions are open to the public.

CHRIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES YOUTH SATURDAY ON FEBRUARY 16

Christ Church has announced a Youth Saturday for children to be held on Saturday, February 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. The event will include a number of activities centered on what we do during the season of Lent, a showing of the movie “Shrek,” and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. CHRIST CHURCH TO ENROLL PERSONS FOR CONFIRMATION AND RECEPTION ON FEB. 17

Christ Church will enroll adults wishing to prepare for confirmation and reception into the Episcopal Church at its regular 10:00 A.M. Mass on Sunday, February 17. Father Walker will officiate at the rite of welcoming baptized but previously uncatechized Adults who are preparing for Confirmation or Reception into the Full Communion of the Episcopal Church. Persons wishing to be enrolled are asked to contact The Rev’d Paul Walker, Vicar of Christ Church, at 973-751-0616.
The process will lead to the service of Confirmation and Reception into the Episcopal Church on Sunday, April 6 at 3:00 P.M. at Trinity and St. Phillip’s Cathedral in Newark. Father Walker will lead the confirmation preparation and instruction.

CHRIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES LENTEN CONTEMPORARY LITURGY

Christ Episcopal Church has announced a Lenten Contemporary Liturgy for Sunday, February 17 at 4:00 P.M. The Rev’d Paul Walker, Vicar of Christ Church, will officiate at the Mass, and The Rev’d Randy Webster, Curate at Christ Church, will preach. The service is more relaxed and contemporary than the regular morning worship, and is about forty-five minutes in length. The liturgy will include the imposition of ashes and communion. CARE CLOSET ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY DISTRIBUTION DAY

The Care Closet, an outreach program of Christ Episcopal Church, has announced its February distribution day for Monday, February 25, beginning at 3:00 P.M. until all of the supplies are exhausted.

The Care Closet distributes packages of paper products, cleaning products and personal hygiene items to persons with Families First cards. The parish is always receiving gifts of individually wrapper paper towels, facial tissue and toilet tissue. Additionally volunteers are always welcome both for the preparation of the bags and on distribution day. For more information please phone the parish.

CHRIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES LENTEN QUIET DAY

Christ Church has announced its Lenten Quiet Day for Saturday, March 1. The Quiet Day will run from 2:00 P.M. through 6:00 P.M. and be led by The Rev’d Randy Webster, Curate at Christ Church. Called “Meeting God in the Desert Places of our lives,” the reflections will center on the spirituality of the Desert Mothers and Fathers. Quiet Days allow us to take time away from our busy lives to look at our spiritual lives, and usually involve directed quiet spiritual direction, Eucharist and a light supper. The event is free to the public, but reservations are requested by phoning the parish office so that adequate materials can be prepared.

CHRIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES LOCAL FOOD DRIVE

Christ Church has announced a food drive to replenish and restock the pantry of The Mary and Martha Soup Kitchen. Gifts of non-perishable items are needed to keep up with the demands of the soup kitchen which now serves meals each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Individuals and organizations wishing to make contributions of canned goods or financial gifts are asked to contact the parish at 973-751-0616. Volunteers are also always needed to maintain the soup kitchen’s ongoing operations. Persons wishing to volunteer are asked to phone the parish.
